Sin.
Everyone knows about it.
Everyone has done it.
God hates it.
Christ died to free us from it.
Wait....Christ died to free us from it?
If that is so, why are born again people so obsessed with it? Has anyone ever considered that Christians are entirely too sin conscious? I know...I know...That directly contradicts what American churches have considered truth for eons.
But, let's consider what Jesus said. Simply, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." (John 14:15) Could we all agree that to not keep Jesus' commandments would be considered sin? Good. Let's continue.
I would like to offer a different perspective...A new paradigm maybe. (I have to use words like paradigm so as that the establishment will comprehend my ideas)
I suggest teaching new believers about the love of Christ, the Father, and the ministry of Holy Spirit. Further, I suggest teaching new believers how to fall in love with Jesus...Simply understanding all that He has accomplished FOR US; teaching new believers that they indeed NEED Jesus.
The best I can tell, the alternative is to continue as we have for the eons of Western Christian existence. IE: Teach all about sin and all the things that Christians should not do. Make sure that all new converts are well versed in all the things that we Christians are opposed to. (I may or may not end written sentences with prepositions) MAKE SURE ALL BELIEVERS KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT SIN.
Doesn't that contradict Jesus statement aforementioned?
Why are we so sin conscious that all we can think about and teach about is sin???
Teach people how Jesus loves us. By proxy, they will fall in love with Him. When an individual falls in love with Jesus, they will cease to desire to sin. Simple? I believe so...
